Honey, I am Woman (Poetry Prints)
Honey, I am a woman. Can’t you see?
Or maybe you have been confused
by all the other names they pegged on me.
Though my character they break,
please make no mistake of my acceptance of their doings.
My title is woman, and I will not let you define that for me.
I’m taking back my name
and there are some things you need to know.
Honey, I am a woman.
More than your thoughts at 2 am.
More than just some yes girl I state my opinion!
More than household chores.
More than that hidden secret in the back of your closet.
More than the funds that you forecast.
More than your disrespect, more than any
degrading name you can call me in the book!
Never left nor right I take center stage.
Honey, I am a woman.
So, the next time you get the gall to call me out my name,
you remember that I am the joy in each tear.
I am the smile after your sorrow, your go to
when no one else will do. I am the backbone,
the foundation of a home, the strength in
each breath, the origin of flesh, the source
of all beings, the reason you have life!
Honey, I am a woman. Can’t you see?
